  • simple drift improvments

    hey guys what simple things do you do to setup your car for track other then control arms and sway bars etc
    Z20 SOARER WHORE (totalling 21 z20s so far)
    PREVIOUS RIDES - 5 GZ20 soarers, 4 MZ20 soarer, 2 MZ20 aerocabins soarers, 9 MZ21 soarers, 530hp 2jz MZ20 Soarer
    CURRENT - drift soarer with carbon fibre bonnet and boot and 8point cage, factory manual mz21 and aerocabin

        Steering lock, good diff (after market LSD or locker), lowered ride height, good shocks, swaybars and wheel alignment to make the best of it all. Same level of tyres all round (quality and tread) will help you learn to drive the car more neutral and induce over/under as when you want it.

        Other than that, good fixed back bucket and a harness to keep you in place and help you feel the car more, then its just seat time.

          Just experiance, iv seen people drift stock commys with chopped springs nd weilded diff.

          Grinder and a mig work wonders haha

            Loonie's pretty much got it.

            Adjustable coilovers (good for adjusting height and stiffness to suit your style)
            LSD or locked diff
            As much weight saving as possible
            Bucket seat, preferably fixed back (you'll damage your back trying to hold yourself in a standard seat)
            Harness (as above)
            Hydraulic handbrake (consistent lockup is very helpful)
            Strut braces and sway bars (get the suspension doing all the work and not the chassis flexing)
            Suede steering wheel (the best for non-slip action)
            As much lock a you can find
            Good tyres all around (and monitor pressures to what suits you)
            Wheel alignment (personal taste but i like: max -camber & +caster up front, toe out front, 0 everything in the rear)

            I'd recommend to do a bunch of different events (motorkhana, hillclimb, circuit, drag, drift) to get to know every aspect of what your car can do and how it reacts. It's also great for seat time and enjoying driving the car after all the hard work!!
