  • GZ20 Acceleration, OD/OFF, ON, PWR, ECON, what to use?

    Hi,

Just want to get some opinions for those of you who have GZ20 Automatics.
What Combination gives you the best acceleration and shifts. Some suggest turning OD/OFF. What about the PWR, ECON settings?

Use PWR for acceleration . I have a modified trans now though so I don't us it.

As for Overdrive don't worry about it, only comes into play as '4th gear'.

      econ short shifts
      econ off still short shifts
      pwr holds gears longer
      od is 4th gear
or you can manuly shift it
Half of the GTR's power comes from boost and not torque.

Well for a bit of spirited fun,

i put it into 1'st hold the brakes on, with a bit of throttle to get a bit of turbo pressure build up, then flat to the floor and brakes off, then to 2nd' when getting a bit high in the rev's then usually going 300km/h by that stage!

        ahh love the auto 1G...

id say stick it in park, jack it up, drop the box, add manual, oil, start, first, rev and drop clutch!

Hi, If you pay for my parts I'll do it

I've just been experimenting with how the box behaves with the ECON, PWR and OD/OFF combinations.

ECON gives better acceleration from about 0-60, but power gives better response and acceleration in the top end i've noticed.

My 7m runs like shit with ECON for some reason...

Barely spools up the t70 lol...

Mine is always in power...o/d off will just stop the car from going into 4th...

Would having OD off give better response when driving at higher speeds? thats what I've noticed.

It should, as you are in 3rd gear, O/D on would be a bit sluggish but better and more economical cruising.

Thats just how it feels to me maybe its not true but it feels that it shifts when it should instead of revving it out too much before shifting.
