  • 1uz and manual conversion into a gz20

I picked up a cheap gz20 auto recently iv converted it to manual but rather than spend money on the 1g i'm looking fr another option. Has anyone ever done this r hav any information on it. I already put a 1jz in my other gz20 but want to try something different an u can pick these up really cheap in ireland. Iv heard they can handle fairly big power on standard internals. u can pick up adaptor plates to suit w58s there expensive but cheaper than a 1j and r154..... any help wud b appreciated thanks

Apologies for the Hijack, if the OP does not need/want these I'm interested (although admittedly I'm between pays). Does it require any mods for x-member, gbox, tailshaft etc? I definitely have a Zenki...

If you want them ur welcome to them mine ar the same. I presume the original cross member is fine wit the correct r maybe modified mounts. The gearbox an prop shaft shud stay the same id imagine

differance beetween non and vvti is

can use ecu, strong rods, 10 to 1 comp, can take decent boost wit a good tune.

vvti: factory ecu has an imobiliser{ need heaps of shit to get it working}. weak rods, 10.5 to 1 comp. heads are better{flow like fully ported early ones), block is stronger(more webbing). can only take 5psi ish before factory rods crumble. need aftermarket ecu to run two vvti channels.

vvti costs heaps more to setup but should get good results, in factory for with the vvti make 15% more low down torque.

justen gt8 made 370rwkw for a couple of years on an unopend non vvti

Thanks slipway. I'll probly use a non vvti if thats the case. Non vvti's ar alot easier to find here in ireland I cud buy a complete ls400 fr about €400/$500
