  • Installing a Gauge into Z20 Soarer Aircon Vents

Courtesy of : GU11TY (Spelling and Grammar has been fixed Pictures Resized To Forum Friendly Size Also)

Hey guys it has been asked a few times where to mount gauges in our Z20 Soarers and the most common place is in the aircon vents.

This is because the aircon vents are exactly 2" wide, and fits a 2" gauge perfectly. So this is how to do it.

Turn your air con vent as far as you can so its sideways like this, and get a screwdriver or something to slide through it and then pull it out. Don't worry if u hear snapping noises, because you dont need the inside section of the aircon vent.

Now you will see the vent is in 2 halves, so get a screwdriver and push it into the middle so it splits into 2 parts

Now if the half with the vent doesn't pop straight out then just take some tin snips and cut the 3 bits so that it comes out

Now you have 2 halves and you only need 1 half for mounting the gauge, so you can either use half for mounting a gauge on the drivers side and the other half for another on the passenger side.

Slide your gauge in and it should fit perfectly for a 2" (52mm) gauge. Just put it back into the vent once more and away you go.

Remember after you do this modification, you will not be able to put the air con vent back in.

My HKS 70mm(?) gauge fits in there perfectly also, but it's a straight fit no disassembly or modification of the of the vent needed (simply remove it)... I'll get a pic up soon

shouldnt be a problem, you would just get more air coming out of the other vents i would imagine.

Just like to add. If you would like to remove your air con vent but not break it, you have to take the whole dashboard out and remove it from behind. That is the only way to go about it if you'd like to keep your vent incase you want to put it back.

Hamgatan could you please add this to the Guide.

For a Gauge - spare nipple off the manifold.

For boost control - ideally between both turbos boost source lines (tpiece them)
