  • QLD P-Plater exemptions for turbos!

    so according to this form:

    http://www.support.transport.qld.gov.au/qt/formsdat.nsf/forms/QF4467/$file/F4467_ES.pdf

    if your soarer is turbocharged BUT under 125kw/tonne you can get an exemption for it. you just need some kind of information to prove that its under 125 kw/tonne

    ' a copy of a document published by the vehicle’s manufacturer showing
    the vehicle’s kerb weight and maximum engine power. For example, an
    owner’s manual, a letter on the manufacturer’s letterhead, or information
    from the manufacturer’s website'

    so if anyone has an owners manual or a toyota spec sheet for a gz20 gen 2 with a w57 manual and can post up pictures of kerb weight and the power output youll be helping me out heaps. thank you in advance and to any p-platers out there.. goodluck with getting exemptions too

    well if a non turbo jza80 is p plate friendly then a standard gz20 will be as well.

    The non turbo 2j puts down a couple more kilowatts than the 1g.

    bjay might be the man to ask, i think he has a few brochures etc. if you could find a spec sheet for a ga70 supra that might work too? as the specs would be the very similiar.

        i know what i was saying is because non turbo 2j is slightly more powerfull than a twin turbo 1g he shouldnt have any issues. gz20's arent that much lighter than an a80.

          Ill get back to you on this
          I had this (kw/tonne) for every model z20 as it differs year to year and by what options (elec seats, sunroof etc.), but my daughter knocked my xhd over and Ive lost it all (along with all my other documents, manuals and brochures)

          what year is your z20?
          sunroof?
          electric seats?

          chassis code?
          (eg HCMVZ, HJPVZ etc)

          traction control and abs?

            FYI aerocabin would be p plate legal (my missus has the same 125kw/tonne, but thats changed for new p platers)
            from memory gz20tt is around 110kw/tonne dry weight (worked it all out for sevs as over 105kw/tonne is part of what makes the 89-91 gz20 tt eligible for import)

              nah 1g-gz20 its all on wiki but it has to be from the manufacturer.
              and bjay any turbocharged car excluding diesel and some ~400 cc ones are illegal to drive on p-plates unless exempt.
              my car has got electric seats as well as sunroof, its 88, gen2 with a w57. and the chassis code is hcmvz( what is the difference between hcm and hjpvz?) if you could get me some legitimate toyota documents i would be so stoked!!!
              also, where will my engine number be? my entire motor is caked in oil and it would take me all day to locate it...

                and also another stupid thing about these p-plate rules.. v8s cannot be exempt at all unless for work reasons. but things like the 304 are rated at less power than the vz sv6 @190 kw

                  dude, I wrote the wiki chart (wiki is offline)
                  I have the document you need, but only hardcopy because of my hd crashing
                  From memory, all factory z20's are under 125kw/tonne, therefore p plate legal/eligable for exemption

                  so 1440 is your kerb weight (+10kg if you have esc) and 200 ps @ 6200rpm is your power rating, and I have the factory book I can scan copies of for you, but its all in japanese
                  I can highlight the information required
                  engine number is at the rear on passengers side from memory near bellhousing

                  HCMZZ, HCMVZ HJPVZ, HCMZZ etc. are your differnt models (eg. e-gz20-hcmvz)

                  1.h= soarer

                  2.c= coupe j= aerocabin

                  3.p= auto m = manual

                  4.v/z/g= interior grade

                  5.z=dohc turbo efi? f= dohc efi? e=single cam efi?

                    oh yeah im not saying its wrong the form says it has to be from toyota. yeah a scan would be great cheers mate. doesnt matter if its in japanese they still use arabic numerals on things like spec sheets dont they? i work for toyota so i got one of the parts guys to chase it up and they say that its been deleted off the system. thats just sci-fleet im not sure about the other toyotas dealerships.
                    thanks for all your help man!
                    as long as insurance doesnt kill me ill hopefully be driving this soon as

                        I never lost them
                        Theyre always wrapped in plastic, bubbled, boxed and in my keylocked fireproof filing cabinet

                        Ive been too busy lately to get them done

                        Spent the last 4 hours or so looking for cables, downloading drivers, unpacking my printer, moving boxes to get into my filing cabinet and scanning these for you

                        If these arent hi-res enough, pm me your email address and Ill send them to you, or take more if need be
                        The book is larger than my scanner, I cant get a whole page at once

                        1st pic I circled

                        1: your chassis code
                        2: #1 weight
                        3: #2 weight
                        -its either #1 dry weight and #2 kerb weight OR #1 kerb weight #2 MAX weight, but Im pretty sure my first definition is correct
                        Notes *2 and *3 (next to weight) are for sunroof +20kg and esc +10kg
                        4: Power rating

                        2nd pic is original of the 1st
                        3rd pic is a long scan of the same page
                        4th pic is a wide shot of back cover for authenticity purposes
