Default Newbie from Australia

Hello all!

I'm from Melbourne and currently own an R31 Skyline.

I'm thinking about buying a Z20 though so thought I'd have a look around here and get to know them a bit better. Best thing so far is the DIGITAL DASH OMG.

What sort of budget should I have for a good condition Z20 with rego?

Also are there many VIC members here? I've only ever seen one around, was in Northern suburbs.

Thanks dude.
Will be a few months away, probably around September.
Tossing up between the z20 or mr2 aw11.. from what I can see they're both around the same price area.

Not into the whole drifting thing, which I see most of the z20s are being used for, just want something enjoyable to drive as a daily and tastefully mod.

Good and Clean z20 Soarer 7k+, Good and Clean 1JZ z20 Soarer 10K+.

Great car to use as a Daily or Cruiser it has heaps of room but GZ20's have very little low end power so a 1JZ or 2JZ Conversion makes it the perfect car. Other than that the MZ20 is the pick if you want good drivability but you will have to ensure that the head gasket has been replaced properly and if not yet, you have to spend about $2000 doing it right yourself and then it's a great car

Hi all back again. This forum isn't very active but is there much of a z20 community in Victoria? Can't find much talk about them and never see them for sale either.

This was a very active forum around 2008-2010

Would be better for people to be active on this forum as it's well structured with different areas etc and has heaps of information for people to search and talk about.

It is quite a rare car so that may be why it may not be too active.

hey mate nice 31, you messaged me about the exemption in march but i never read my emails. alright, so i got my exemption in 2012 around august, my mate got his 32 exempt about 6 months ago and he had to contact nissan in japan and get an email from them with official specs. i used cardirectory.com as the sheets i got from bjay from the z20 soarer brochure didnt pass because theyre in japanese. so i guess youd have to try and contact toyota and get specs that way, or give it a go with the cardirectory.com specs and tell them you know someone with that car that got that exemption that way.
i personally prefer the forum but its easier for everyone to use their mobiles on facebook so no one uses the forum.

z20s were never really popular for drifting until fairly recently. They do make excellent daily drives though, they are the ultimate 80s jap Grand Tourer. I put 800kms on my jzz20 just this weekend!
